As the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan draws to an end, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama in the spirit of the holy season has made a donation of 800 bags of rice and a whopping sum of GH¢50,000 to the Muslim community in the Yendi Constituency to support them in the celebration of the upcoming Islamic festivity, Eid-ul-fitr.
The huge donation is in consonance with his desire to enable needy Muslims and their families undertake the big celebration with ease and joy. The Eid-ul-fitr festival is considered as an indispensable spiritual event on the Islamic calendar.
Before the donation was dispatched to Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, through his assigns, unveiled it to the NPP Regional Leadership and received their blessings, buy-in and advise at the party headquarters.
Present to oversee it on behalf of the regional leadership was the Regional Organiser, Alhaji Rashid COP, who described the donation as a huge relief to the party and advised that the donation should be done in a manner that touches the rank and file of the party. He added that such interventions are always welcome and commendable.
The 800 bags of rice and the GH¢50,000 sum have been well targeted and they are to be distributed to dozens of party faithfuls, over 100 opinion leaders and chiefs, youth and women groups as well as Islamic clerics (Ulemas).
Alhaji Farouk urged all Muslims to endeavour to share the little they have so as to enable the underprivileged enjoy the Eid. He has always supported the Muslim brothers during their festivals and has assured of his continued assistance in order to maintain the good relationship he has with them. He congratulated the Muslim world on a successful end of the “Holy Month”. He said that it is his bid to nurture, grow, sustain and maintain the popularity of the NPP in the Yendi Constituency, a seat the party has held since 1992.
Alhaji Farouk also urged Muslim celebrants, particularly those in Yendi, to continue to use the blessings of the Eid to pray for continued peace and tranquility in the town especially at a time the Dagbon feud has ended. Leadership of the Muslims in Yendi Constituency expressed sincere appreciation to the kind gesture of Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama and for his unceasing support to the people.
