COVID-19 PANDEMIC: RAWLINGS CLOSES DOWN OFFICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The Office of the former President of the Republic of Ghana, His excellency Jerry John Rawlings, has announced the closure of his office until further notice.

This decision according to a statement signed by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa of the former President’s Communications Directorate, has become necessary because of the “outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and is aimed at protecting both staff and visitors alike”.

In confirming the closure, Mr Rawlings indicated that “isolation is key to protecting ourselves from COVID-19 virus and it is in support of measures taken by government to mitigate the spread of the virus”.

The statement further stated that the former president has voluntarily tested for the virus and received a negative result.
